A Xero Certified Advisor in Verwood
I’m a Xero Certified Advisor, which means I’ve completed Xero’s own training and certification. When I set up Xero for you, it’s done the way Xero intends: a tidy chart of accounts, correct VAT and CIS settings, bank feeds and rules that do the heavy lifting, and payroll that posts straight into your accounts. If you’re a builder, I’ll also set up Xero’s CIS features so deductions are tracked automatically.
Hubdoc, Dext and Syft
Good bookkeeping software is only half the story. I’m experienced with the apps that make it effortless:
- Hubdoc – Xero’s own document capture. Snap a receipt or forward a bill by email and it’s read, filed and matched in Xero automatically. Ideal if you want a Hubdoc Xero bookkeeper to set it up once and keep it running.
- Dext – powerful receipt and invoice capture for Xero, QuickBooks and Sage, with supplier rules that code costs for you. As a Dext bookkeeper in Dorset, I’ll set up your rules so most receipts need no manual work at all.
- Syft – Syft reporting turns your figures into clear dashboards, cash flow views and management reports, so you can see how the business is doing at a glance.
Software that saves you time
Cloud accounting software can take hours off your week – but only when it’s set up properly. A badly configured system creates more work, not less. I’ll set yours up so that bank transactions flow in automatically, receipts are captured from your phone, invoices go out looking professional and your VAT and MTD returns come straight from the software.
Friendly training, no jargon
Many people are nervous about accounting software. My training sessions are relaxed and practical: we work on your own business, not a made-up example. You can learn to do as much or as little as you like, from simply snapping receipts to running your own invoicing, with me checking and reconciling behind the scenes.
Moving from spreadsheets
If you’re one of the many landlords and sole traders joining Making Tax Digital for Income Tax, you may need to move from spreadsheets to MTD-compatible software. I’ll help you pick an option that suits your budget and bring your records across cleanly.

Should I use Hubdoc or Dext?
Both let you snap receipts on your phone. Hubdoc is included with many Xero subscriptions and suits simpler businesses; Dext has more automation and works with QuickBooks and Sage too. I’ll recommend the one that fits how you work.
Which is best – Xero, QuickBooks or Sage?
They’re all good and all work with Making Tax Digital. The best one depends on your business, your budget and how you like to work. I’ll talk you through the differences honestly.
Can you train my staff as well?
Yes. I can run sessions for you, a partner or an office manager, tailored to the jobs each person does – for example, raising invoices or entering bills.
I set up Xero myself and it’s a mess. Can you fix it?
Definitely. Tidying up a self-installed system is very common. I’ll review the set-up, fix the chart of accounts and bank rules, and correct past transactions where needed.
