Monthly bookkeeping and bank reconciliation

Bookkeeping at £25 per hour and bank reconciliation for sole traders and small businesses in Verwood, Ferndown, Wimborne and East Dorset.

£25 per hour

What’s included

  • Recording sales, purchases and expenses in your software
  • Snap your receipts on your phone with Hubdoc or Dext – no more paper
  • Reconciling every bank, card and PayPal/Stripe account to the penny
  • Chasing up missing receipts and odd transactions with you
  • Sales and purchase ledgers kept up to date, so you know who owes what
  • A short monthly summary of how the business is doing
  • Records kept in a way that meets HMRC’s digital record-keeping rules

Books that are always up to date

Good bookkeeping isn’t just about keeping HMRC happy. When your records are reconciled every month you can see at a glance how much you’ve earned, what you’re owed, what you owe and how much to put aside for tax. No more January panic, no more guessing.

I take care of the routine work each month: bringing in your bank transactions, matching them to invoices and receipts, coding everything to the right category and making sure the balance in your software matches the balance in the bank – exactly.

Why bank reconciliation matters

Reconciling your accounts is the step many business owners skip, and it’s where most errors creep in: duplicated invoices, missing expenses, personal spending mixed in with business costs. Catching these each month means your VAT returns and MTD updates are right first time, and your accountant isn’t charging you to untangle a year’s worth of problems.

Who it’s for

  • Sole traders across Verwood, Ferndown and West Moors who would rather spend their evenings off the laptop
  • Landlords with one or several properties who now need digital records for Making Tax Digital
  • Limited companies that want up-to-date figures for decisions, dividends and their accountant
  • Growing businesses that have outgrown a spreadsheet

How it works

  1. Free chat – we talk through your business, your software and what’s taking up your time.
  2. Clear estimate – bookkeeping is £25 per hour, and you’ll know roughly how many hours to expect each month.
  3. Set-up – I connect bank feeds and Hubdoc or Dext, so you can snap your receipts on your phone, and tidy up anything that needs it.
  4. Every month – I do the bookkeeping, send you any questions and a short summary.

Monthly bookkeeping: frequently asked questions

How much does monthly bookkeeping cost?

Bookkeeping is £25 per hour, with no VAT to add. Most small businesses need only a few hours a month, and I’ll give you an estimate before starting. If you’re a sole trader or landlord in Making Tax Digital, my £31-a-month MTD plan may suit you better.

Do I have to change my software?

No. I work in Xero, QuickBooks and Sage. If you don’t use software yet, I’ll recommend the simplest option for you and set it up.

How often will I hear from you?

At least monthly. I’ll send any queries in one tidy list rather than drip-feeding questions, and you can call or email me whenever you need to.
